I think this post provides interesting insight into the distinction between the semantic and syntactic nature of the web. In addition to making it mechanically easy to &#039;link&#039; pages and people and ideas together in the this highly interconnected structure, there&#039;s something (as you point out) heavily layered, self-referential, and fractal about the web that transcends &lt;a href rel=&quot;nofollow&quot;&gt; tag -- but is well captured in resources such as Wikipedia, etc.</description>
